Police say a 26-year-old New Jersey man had his leg severed when he drunkenly fell asleep next to the tracks under a Queens subway platform and was struck by a train.

The man was hit at the 65th Street station in Woodside at about 4:40 a.m. Sunday.

Police say the man from Elizabeth was taken to Elmhurst Hospital and is expected to survive. His name was not released.
