A suspected drunk driver blew past a line of security at NYPD headquarters and crashed into a barricade Friday morning, authorities say.
Police say the suspect drove a black Volkswagen in behind another car as it passed through security at 1 Police Plaza, then sped off to the next checkpoint, which authorities had already shut down.
The driver allegedly tried to drive over the barricade, but crashed, police say. The front of the car was badly damaged.
He was arrested shortly after 7 a.m. A woman in the car with him was let go.
