10,000 Bags of Heroin Found in Car During Routine Traffic Stop in New York: Police

Police say a routine traffic stop in Westchester County netted 10,000 bags of heroin inside the vehicle.

Officers discovered the cache of drugs after pulling over a car for an unsafe lane change in Tarrytown on Tuesday.

Police obtained a search warrant after the suspects gave conflicting accounts of where they were going.

Police found 10,600 bags of heroin in a concealed compartment of the car, as well as stamping devices that were used to label the bags, according to The Journal News. Police say the heroin has an estimated street value of $250,000.

Carolyn Claudio of Yonkers and Julio Vargas of New York City were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. They were arraigned Wednesday and held without bail.
