Driver of Stolen Car Flees After Slamming Into New Jersey Church: Police

The driver of what authorities said was a stolen car crashed into a church in New Jersey and fled the scene, police say.

The driver took off after slamming the car into the Community of Chapel Ministries on Hawthorne Avenue in Newark Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

As many as nine people were packed into the car when it crashed into the church, police said.

Two of the passengers were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries, according to officials.

No description of the driver was given to investigators, but they continue to look for the suspect, police said.
