Driver Run Over by Own Van at Queens Gas Station: Police

    A driver was run over by his own van when he stepped out of the vehicle at a Queens gas station and it started rolling forward, police say.

    The man stopped at the Gulf gas station at Merrick and Farmers boulevards in St. Albans at around 7 p.m. Monday, according to police. When he exited the van, it began rolling forward.

    He jumped in front of the van to try to stop it, but was run over, police say.

    The driver was taken to Jamaica Hospital with trauma to the torso and is in critical condition, according to the FDNY.
