Driver Charged With Manslaughter in New Jersey Crash That Killed 3

Three people, including a child and pregnant woman, died in the crash

A man who lost control and crashed his SUV on New Jersey's Route 15 South Saturday evening, killing three people including a child and pregnant woman, was charged on multiple counts of manslaughter, officials said.

Police said say Luis Torres was behind the wheel of a Ford Explorer crammed with nine other people when the SUV lost control and flipped near Heller's Lane in Orange County.

Torres told police they were heading home from a family gathering at Lake Tomahawk where he'd been drinking throughout the day.

Charges against Torres include multiple counts of aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide and assault by auto.

Police identified the three who died as Lucila Colon, 62, Tevia Booth, 11, and Julissa Colon, 36, who was pregnant.

Information on a lawyer for Torres was not immediately available.
