NBC New York's helicopter (yeah, we have a helicopter) spotted a deer stranded on the rocky shores of Governors Island yesterday.

The deer reportedly roamed through downtown Jersey City then leaped into the Hudson and swam to Governors Island -- about 2000 yards away.

New York City police officers were able to sedate the deer with a tranquilizer.

The animal is now living in a wildlife park on Staten Island.
