Dogs Rescued From Puppy Mills Arriving in NYC Area

Some 150 rescued dogs are coming to the New York City area to receive much needed medical care and to find loving homes.

The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons says the dogs will arrive from the Midwest at Adopt-A-Dog in Armonk, N.Y. on Tuesday. It says they were rescued from large scale breeding operations known as puppy mills.

The ARF and 15 other rescue groups will give them temporary shelters and care until they can be put up for adoption.

The ARF says breeder dogs can spend their entire lives inside cramped cages.

Among the rescued dogs are Chihuahuas, Cavalier King Charles and Boston terriers. They've been rescued by the Best Friends Animal Society.
