A pair of loyal dogs helped their owner chase after a thief who took off with a gold chain from a jewelry store in the Bronx Thursday, but the swiper managed to get away and police are now looking for her.

Police said a woman walked into the Kings Jewelry shop at 55 East Kingsbridge Rd. at about 3:40 p.m. and asked to see a gold chain.

When the clerk stepped away to allow another customer to enter the store, the woman ran out of the store with chain.

The owner and the dogs went running after the woman, but were not able to catch her. No one was hurt.

The thief appeared to be in her 20s, and was wearing blue jean shorts, a brown t-shirt and a baseball cap.
