WATCH: Dog Running on Tracks Causes LIRR Delays

A dog caused delays of up to half an hour on some Long Island Rail Road branches Tuesday morning as it raced along the tracks in Queens, dodging MTA police who tried to coax it to safety, authorities say.

Video shows an MTA officer crouched on the ground, trying to lure the pup, which looks a bit like a black lab, over to him. The pup trots up near to him, then leaps onto one side of the tracks, bypassing the officer's outstretched hand before bounding along the track bed.

The officer gets up and starts to follow the dog as it continues trotting along the rails, tongue out, tail in the air.

The dog has not been captured, the MTA says. There were reported sightings on the tracks near the Queens Village and Hollis stations.
