Dog Pushed From SUV, Hit By Car While Chasing After Owners: SPCA

A dog was dumped from an SUV last week and hit by a second car as it chased after its owners' vehicle, authorities say.

The Suffolk County SPCA says that the dog was seen getting out of a Jeep Grand Cherokee on Jerusalem Hollow Road in Moriches on Jan. 18. The animal ran around to the driver's side of the vehicle and tried to get back in but was pushed away by the person inside.

The vehicle then took off, authorities allege.

SPCA officials say that witnesses saw the dog chasing after the SUV before it was hit by a car traveling the other direction.

The animal was then taken to a veterinarian, where it was treated for bruises and scrapes.

A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case.
