“Bones” the Dog Nearly Dies from Cruel Neglect

It's a sad story no animal lover wants to hear, but there can still be a happy ending.

In response to calls from neighbors reporting a dog barking in what they thought was an abandoned house, the Suffolk County  Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals last week discovered a emaciated, starving Doberman Pincher at death's door.

“Part of him was giving up but when he saw us, when he saw humans, he had a little hope in his eyes," said one team member. "He knew we were there to save him.”

According to the SPCA team, the dog was locked in the bedroom of an extremely hot house in Medford, Long Island. The poor pooch couldn’t stand on his own, and his eyes were covered with green pus.

"He probably wouldn’t have lasted another day in that house," they said.

Officials later found out that the Doberman, whom they nicknamed "Bones," belonged to Ozkan Guleryuz, 21, who has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty. If convicted, he faces two years behind bars.
