A woman walking her dog in a Staten Island park was bitten when a fight erupted involving several dogs, police said.

Police responded to Schmul Park in Travis and fired multiple shots in an attempt to control the animals.

None of the dogs were shot, authorities said.

The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment. At least one of the dogs was badly injured during the fight, officials said.

Police are still confirming the conditions and whereabouts of all the dogs involved in the fight. An investigation is ongoing.
