Driver Who Crashed Into NJ Burger King May Have Had Seizure: Cops

A driver who crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a livery cab before hitting several buildings and a lightpole in New Jersey may have suffered a seizure before the crash, police say.

Wilfredo Lopez Padilla, 31, of Fairview, New Jersey, was driving on Montgomery Avenue when he suffered the medical episode and crossed into oncoming traffic, authorities say.

Padilla's car then hit a livery cab before jumping a curb and slamming into a Burger King at Montgomery and Bergen avenues.

Authorities say the vehicle didn't stop there; it continued rolling down the edge of the wall, scraping by at least one more building before getting wedged between a lightpole and a jewelry store. The vehicle came to a halt one door down from a daycare center.

Miraculously, no one on the street or sidewalk was injured, police say.

After the crash Lopez Padilla was given a field sobriety test and police determined he wasn't under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

He was cited for driving with a suspended license and taken to Jersey Center Medical Center for evaluation.

Attorney information for the man wasn't immediately available.
