New York is providing replacement food stamps for those lost or destroyed by Tropical Storm Irene.

The state says recipients should contact their local department of social services or go to the website of the state Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance.

Recipients will need to fill out a form to receive replacement food stamps.

Households that currently don't receive the benefit that reduces the cost of groceries can check their financial eligibility at another state website. That website is at myBenefits.ny.gov.
