The Democratic primary for an open New York City Council seat is too close to call.
Six candidates were vying Thursday for the nomination to run in the 23rd District.
The seat has been vacant since Mark Weprin resigned in June to take a job to work for Governor Andrew Cuomo.
The winner will face Republican Joseph Concannon, a retired police department captain, in November's general election.
Unofficial results showed former Assemblyman Barry Grodenchik, Robert Friedrich, head of one of the city's largest co-op boards, and Rebecca Lynch, a former aide to Mayor Bill de Blasio, within several hundred votes. They're trailed by businessman and community activist Satnam Parhar, lawyer Ali Najmi and Celia Dosamantes, a former aide to Assemblyman David Weprin.
De Blasio, who is also a Democrat, offered an endorsement in the race.
