Flight From LaGuardia Circles for 2 Hours Before Landing at JFK

A Delta Airlines flight from LaGuardia Airport headed to Dayton, Ohio, had to divert to John F. Kennedy International Airport Monday because of an equipment issue, and it spent two hours circling the area before landing at the airport 10 miles away, airline officials said.

Delta flight 6093, carrying 41 passengers and a three-person crew, was scheduled to make the two-hour trip at 7:35 p.m. Monday, a spokeswoman with the airline said. The flight took off about an hour late, at 8:25 p.m., according to Delta flight records.

The spokeswoman said that sometime after takeoff, officials made the decision to divert the flight to nearby JFK because of a gear issue.

It touched down safely at JFK shortly before 11 p.m.

The passengers were taken off the plane on put on other flights.
