Delta Flight Hit by Laser When Approaching JFK Airport: Police

Someone pointed a green laser at a Delta plane preparing to land at John F. Kennedy International Airport early Wednesday, authorities say.

Delta flight 737 out of Vegas was flying westbound over Long Island as it made its final approach to the airport at around 3,000 feet when the pilot reported a green laser hit the plane several times, Nassau County police said.

The plane continued to JFK and landed safely, according to police. Nobody was injured.

The pilot said the light came from the right side of the plane about 4 miles northwest of Republic Airport in Farmingdale.

The laser possibly originated from the Bethpage or Plainview area, police said.

The Federal Aviation Administration says it is investigating. The airline is also investigating.
