Deli Workers Shot in Brooklyn: NYPD

Two deli workers were shot by a man during a fight in Brooklyn Tuesday morning, police say.

The workers had asked the gunman to leave their store on the 700 block of Hicks Street in Red Hook, and when he refused, got into an argument with them, according to police.

He then shot the workers, a 33-year-old man in the back and a 52-year-old man in the torso, police said.

The victims were taken to Lutheran and Methodist hospitals; the 33-year-old man is in critical condition, while the other victim is in stable condition, ppolice say.

The 41-year-old suspected gunman was apprehended by responding officers. A gun was recovered at the scene.

A neighbor named Amro said he's lived in the area for nearly 10 years, during a time that Red Hook has gotten safer and "better."

"It's been a long time" since there was a shooting in the neighborhood, he said. "Heartbreaking, it's bad."
