New Jersey Daycare Evacuated After Children Overcome by Fumes

A New Jersey daycare center was evacuated Monday after dozens of children and two adults were overcome by fumes from construction equipment being used at the building, police said.

The work was being done at the building on Route 23 in Pequannock, which police say is occupied by three businesses. Police say exhaust from a Bobcat and demolition saw may have affected 85 people.

Thirty-four children and two adults were taken to the hospital.

Other children were treated at the scene. They were brought outside, along with cribs and toys.

Everyone was expected to be OK.
