Couple Pickpockets Women at Rockefeller Center, Saks: NYPD

Police are looking for a couple who have allegedly been pickpocketing women in midtown for months since last fall, targeting people at popular tourist destinations like the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, they say. 

The thefts began Oct. 23, when the suspects, a man and a woman, took a purse from the chair of a 49-year-old customer eating dinner inside Guantanamera Restaurant near 55th Street and 8th Avenue, police said.

On Nov. 13, a 57-year-old woman inside Saks Fifth Avenue put her handbag on a display table briefly,. then noticed it missing. 

On Nov. 26, a 45-year-old woman eating at a restaurant at Rockefeller Center noticed her wallet missing from her purse. The stolen credit cards were used to make purchases at Michael Kors and at TGIFriday's, police said. 

On Dec. 17, a 57-year-old woman and her husband were visiting the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree when she noticed her shoulder bag was unzipped and a purse had been taken, police said. The purse contained $130 and an American Express credit card, which was used to make about $8,000 in purchases.

Police are also searching for a woman suspected of pickpocketing other women in similar instances near Times Square.
