NBC 4 New York

Fourteen people were taken to the hospital for evaluation after a city Department of Correction bus struck a median near the Manhattan Bridge during Monday morning rush hour, authorities say.

Two correction officers and 12 inmates were taken to area hospitals after the bus crashed into a median on Canal Street shortly before 9 a.m., but no injuries were reported, according to the Department of Correction.
The bus was taking inmates from Rikers Island to courts in Manhattan. Traffic was backed up on the bridge while authorities investigated.
