Woman Fights Off Alleged Serial Rapist in Queens

Police are still looking for Ibrahima Ragis, who's wanted in other assaults in Forest Hills

Police say an alleged serial rapist has struck again in Queens, this time assaulting and attempting to rape a woman in Corona after she fought off a second attacker.

The 20-year-old woman was walking in front of 97-11 Horace Harding Expwy. around 2:30 a.m. Friday, June 22, when a man walked up behind her and sexually abused her, police said.

The woman, who was walking with a shopping cart, hit her alleged attacker with the cart, forcing him to run away. At that point a second suspect ran up to the victim, threw her to the ground and attempted to rape her, police said.

The victim fought back, and the second man fled. The woman was treated for cuts and bruising at a local hospital.

Police are looking for Ibrahima Ragis, 20, in connection with the incident. Ragis is about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. He has black hair. He is already wanted in a number of sexual assaults in Forest Hills, Queens.

The first suspect is about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing only dark blue basketball shorts at the time of the attack.

On June 3, Ragis allegedly approached a 22-year-old woman as she was entering her home, brandished a knife and demanded her property. She complied and the suspect, after being seen by a witness, ran off. There were no reported injuries.

On May 28, he allegedly approached a 17-year-old girl in front of her house, put his hand over her mouth and dragged her into an alley where he raped her. She was treated and released from a local hospital.

Police said Ragis sexually abused a 19-year-old victim on May 19. He also stole her cell phone and some cash before fleeing.

Authorities say he has a prior arrest for jumping a turnstile.
