A North Carolina police chief is pleading for help from his law-enforcement brethren to help find a man accused of killing his daughter.

Concord Police Chief Merl Hamilton said Monday he wants law officers across the country to keep a lookout for 34-year-old Michael Neal Harvey. He urged on ABC's "Good Morning America'' for officers to play by the rules, but to find the suspect.

Charlotte-Mecklburg police offered no new developments early Monday in the search for Harvey. The former Niagara Falls, N.Y., resident was convicted of rape in that state. His North Carolina criminal record includes failing to register as a sex offender and felony breaking-and-entering .

Police said they found the body of 23-year-old Valerie Hamilton in a Charlotte self-storage unit.
