Bedroom Intruder Sought in Alleged UES Rape

Suspect entered through an open window in early morning attack, victim told police

An Upper East Side woman told police she was raped in her apartment Saturday morning by an intruder who entered through her open ground floor window, authorities said.

The alleged attack occurred at about 5:15 a.m. at an apartment on East 90th Street, police said.

The attacker entered through the window and left by the woman's front door, the victim told cops. Neighbors reportedly heard the victim's screams and awoke to find her partially clothed in the hallway.

The alleged crime shook up the Upper East Side neighborhood.

"To think someone could get in so easily," said Deb Fewel.  "It's a safe neighborhood."

Police did not release an age or a  full description of the suspect wanted in the attack.  The victim was taken to an area hospital and is said to be in stable condition.
