Police shoot man who took gun.

Two Brooklyn men have been arrested in connection with a police confrontation outside a neighborhood bar Thursday morning.

Police say an off-duty officer shot a man after he and another officer got in a fight outside a bar. The wounded man hasn't been identified.

Pablo Negron, 26, was charged late Thursday with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Jose Rivera, 22, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and tampering with evidence.

Sources tell NBC New York that a verbal altercation broke out between the officers and a group of men outside Old Gallery Sports Bar, near 18th and McDonald avenues at around 4 a.m. in Borough Park.

One man began fighting with the NYPD officers, and an officer's gun fell to the ground, sources said.

Another man picked it up and opened fire before taking off on foot.

Witnesses tell NBC New York they heard a lot of gunfire, "like 10 shots."

The second officer chased after him, identified himself as a police officer and ordered the man to lower his weapon. The man did not and the officer shot him twice in the torso, sources said.

He is in stable condition at the hospital. Neither police officer was hit.

Jesse Soto, who occasionally works as a deejay at the bar, described the neighborhood as quiet, and said "it was a pretty scary night. Just shocking."
