Mysterious Death of 2-Year-Old Brooklyn Boy Ruled a Homicide

Child died from blunt impact to head, torso, extremities; suffered liver lacerations and internal bleeding

Investigators have ruled the mysterious death of a 2-year-old boy in Brooklyn a homicide after an autopsy revealed the toddler suffered blunt impact wounds to the head, torso and extremities as well as liver lacerations and internal bleeding, authorities said  Saturday.

Police launched an extensive investigation into the death of Aryden Davis, whom they discovered unconscious when they responded to a 911 call of an assault inside an apartment on Kingston Avenue at about 10:40 p.m. Friday night.

Emergency officials rushed to the scene and transported the child to Interfaith Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. At the time, it wasn't immediately clear how the boy died, but an autopsy Saturday determined he was killed, the medical examiner said.

Witnesses told authorities they heard yelling from inside the apartment before cops got there, according to the Daily News. The toddler's mother and her boyfriend were questioned at a nearby precinct but no charges have been filed at this time, the paper reports.

The investigation is ongoing.
