    5 people reported dead.

Police may have a lead in the case of a mugger who's been terrifying women in Manhattan and the Bronx over the last month.

An NYPD spokesperson will only confirm that Cliffside Park police in New Jersey have a "possible' suspect in custody that "may" be the man believed to have robbed at least four women in Stuyvesant Town and Co-Op City.

New York police stress that since they do not have the suspect in custody, any information pertaining to his identity and possible involvement in the robberies is being attributed to Cliffside Park cops.

NYPD detectives are not questioning the man so they cannot confirm either way if he is the person they are seeking.

However, a law-enforcement source told The New York Post the NYPD wants to bring the man to the city for questioning as a "person of interest" in the case.
