Concrete Slab Collapse in Queens Injures Multiple People

A concrete slab collapse at a construction site in Queens injured six people Monday morning.

The incident occurred on 27th Street in Long Island City, on the eighth floor of an under-construction building meant to reach 18 stories.

Workers were pouring concrete from a truck below when the form they were using collapsed.

Photos from the scene showed damaged scaffolding and wood framing leaning over the side of the building.

The FDNY said the injuries, mostly to arms and legs, were not life-threatening.

The Department of Buildings issued a full stop-work order and issued the contractor an aggravated violation for failure to safeguard the site.
