Search on for 2 Inmates Who Escaped Women's Jail

Authorities say a search is under way for two women who escaped from the York Correctional Institution in Connecticut.

Officials say staff at the state's only institution for women noticed the pair was not accounted for at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday as a group of inmates returned from the gymnasium. The facility was placed in lockdown.

Prison officials say 30-year-old Melissa Riley, of Willimantic, and 34-year-old Jessica Rivera, of Waterbury, walked away from the minimum security side of the facility, which is not totally secured by a fence.

Riley was in prison for a drug charge, while Rivera was serving time for conspiracy.
