Con Ed Reducing Voltage to 61,000 Staten Island Customers

Customers have been asked not to use energy-intensive appliances such as air-conditioners, washers and dryers

Con Edison has reduced voltage to more than 61,000 customers on Staten Island because of problems with electrical equipment, according to a statement the utility released Saturday morning.

The reduction affects residents in the St. George, Tompkinsville, Park Hill, Stapleton, Grant City, Fox Hills, New Dorp, Dongan Hills, Midland Beach and Rosebank neighborhoods.

Customers have been asked not to use energy-intensive appliances such as air-conditioners, washers and dryers.

The voltage reduction is a precautionary measure that's been put into place as crews work to fix the equipment problems.
