22 Catholic Elementary Schools to Be Closed in June

Affected students will be invited to attend neighboring Catholic schools

    A committee tasked with determining which area Catholic elementary schools should be closed released its recommendations Tuesday.

    Working with local boards, pastors, principals, elected officials and the Archdiocese of New York, the committee determined 22 Catholic elementary schools that have been designated as at-risk should be closed in June.

    The recommendations were accepted by the Archdiocese of New York and the schools are now slated for closure.

    Affected students will be invited to attend neighboring Catholic schools.

    The list of schools that will close is included below.

    Holy Cross   
    Holy Name of Jesus   
    St. James-St. Joseph     
    St. Jude   

    Northwest and South Bronx:   
    Holy Spirit    
    Our Lady of Angels   
    Our Lady of Mercy  
    St. Jerome         

    East and Northeast Bronx:   
    Blessed Sacrament   
    St. Anthony     
    St. Mary Star of the Sea   

    Central Westchester:
    Holy Name of Jesus, Valhalla
    Our Lady of Fatima, Scarsdale
    St. Casimir, Yonkers

    Northern Westchester/Putnam:
    Our Lady of the Assumption, Peekskill
    St. Theresa, Briarcliff Manor

    St. Joseph, Millbrook

    St. Augustine, New City
    St. Peter, Haverstraw       

    Ulster, Orange, Sullivan:
    St. Joseph, Kingston
    St. Mary of the Snow, Saugerties
