College Student Struck by Car, Killed on Long Island: Police

A 24-year-old college student was killed Thursday night after being hit by a car on a Long Island road.

Eyyad Almargi, 24, was trying to cross Melville Road around 9:20 p.m. when he was struck by a 2003 Saturn going westbound, west of Route 110 in Farmingdale, police said.

Almargi, who is a student at Farmingdale State College SUNY, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver, 45-year-old Albert Perrone, was uninjured.

Police have impounded the car for a safety check. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
