New Yorkers are bracing for a second-straight day of arctic conditions as temperatures struggle to make it over the freezing mark and biting wind chills make it feel much colder.
Parts of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut were all in the low 20s with wind chills well below that Monday morning. Temperatures in New York City should climb to 34 degrees by nightfall, but it will remain windy all day.
It's the second day in a row that people in the tri-state have had to battle cold, blustery weather.
Temperatures were frigid Sunday, with a wind chill below zero in some places. A red-flag warning was also in effect as dry and windy conditions were capable of rapidly spreading any brush fires. The conditions also complicated firefighting efforts as several house fires broke out Sunday.
Storms are expected Tuesday night into Wednesday, with heavy rains possible and the potential for some localized flooding. There may also be some snow Tuesday night, especially north and west of the city. Expect travel to be affected Wednesday.
Thanksgiving will likely be mostly dry and windy with a few flurries possible.
