Cold Start to the Weekend, Warmer Tomorrow

Cold gripped the city and the surrounding suburbs Saturday morning, but temperatures are expected to warm up by Sunday.

Freeze warnings were in effect in many suburbs north and west of the city, with temperatures starting out in the 20s. In the city and Long Island temperatures reached down into the 30s.

Temperatures should rise steadily throughout the day, getting into the 50s. A warm front is expected to approach Saturday night, bringing a chance for some showers, especially north and west of town. 

A Few showers may linger into Sunday morning. The warm front will likely bring a return to temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s Sunday and Monday. 

Expect dry and cool conditions for the Yankees tonight.
