Cold Case Murder Arrest: Police Arrest Suspect in 1987 Killing of Lissette Torres

Police say they've arrested a 53-year-old man in the cold case murder of a 19-year-old woman in Manhattan.

Edwin Alcaide, 53, of the East Village, was arrested by NYPD's Cold Case Squad Thursday in the Jan. 1, 1987 killing of Lissette Torres. Detectives identified Alcaide as the suspect when a recent DNA testing resulted in a match to Alcaide, who was recently paroled for robbery.

Torres was found dead in a lot near the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway with multiple stab wounds, police said.

DNAInfo reports Alcaide was an acquaintance of Torres' boyfriend.

Alcaide remains in police custody and is expected to be arraigned Friday. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
