Authorities: Woman Killed by Bus in East Orange

The 21-year-old mother was struck by a Coach USA bus while attempting to cross the street with her young son

Authorities say a northern New Jersey mother was struck and killed by a bus as she and her young son tried to cross the street in East Orange.

Essex County prosecutors say 21-year-old Christie Noble-Ross of East Orange was struck by a Coach USA bus shortly before 7 a.m. Monday while walking in the area of Main Street and South Harrison. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her son was not hurt in the accident, but was taken to a hospital for observation.

Katherine Carter, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office, said Monday night that no charges have been filed. But the accident remains under investigation.

Details on the bus driver were not disclosed.
