Clown Named ‘Gags' Has Wisconsin City on Edge

Residents in Green Bay, Wisconsin, are confused and seriously creeped out by a mysterious clown that was spotted roaming through the streets in the darkness of the night.

"Gags" was first spotted around 2 a.m. Monday near Mason and Adams Street, according to a Facebook page created to track any potential future sightings. As to how "Gags" got his (or her) name is still unclear.

And "Gags" sure doesn’t look like your typical friendly and funny clown.

Photos circulating on social media show "Gags – The Green Bay Clown" holding black balloons as if he just stepped off the set of a horror film.

One rumor surfacing from commenters on Facebook claims the clown is part of just that – a recent shooting of a scary movie. But that isn’t calming the nerves of some neighbors.

Green Bay police said they’ve received concerned calls about the appearance, but legally, there’s not much they can do about it, NBC affiliate WGBA reports.

“A person can walk down the sidewalk dressed however they want,” Green Bay Police Department Capt. Kevin Wary told WGBA.

“As long as they’re in a place where they legally can be and they’re not in a place that has a closing time, like a park, they can be there," Wary said. "And dressed however they want.”
