Clerk Accused of Pilfering Plumbing Supplies: Police

A Long Island man is accused of selling more that $50,000 in plumbing supplies he pilfered from the company where he worked, police said Saturday.

David Bevilacqua, of East Meadow, was arrested Friday in connection with the thefts from Green Art Plumbing in Freeport between Dec. 13, 2013, and Feb. 22, 2015, Nassau County police said.

The 36-year-old Bevilacqua was working as a shipping clerk when the company's owners noticed supplies missing and traced them to him, investigators said. Bevilacqua was fired in February 2015.

Bevilacqua had been selling the stolen items on eBay. The company put its losses at more than $50,000.

Bevilacqua was to be arraigned on grand larceny charges. It was not clear whether he had an attorney who could comment.
