Arsonists Toss Molotov Cocktails at Strip Club Knicks Player Cleanthony Early Visited Before Shooting: NYPD

Two suspects tossed a pair of Molotov cocktails at the strip club Knicks forward Cleanthony Early had visited before being shot by masked men who demanded his "gold," police said.

The incendiary devices were chucked through a window of the CityScapes Gentleman's Club on 58th Street in Maspeth Thursday morning, a day after the Knicks' second-round draft pick in 2014 was shot by robbers while leaving the club with his girlfriend, authorities said.

No injuries were reported in the Molotov cocktail toss, but the attack caused damage to the club, including broken windows and burns inside the front area. Authorities say the suspects fled in a Nissan Altima, but had no other description available.

The club owner declined comment Thursday.

It wasn't clear if police thought the Molotov attack was in any way connected to the robbery of Early, who left the club in an Uber car with his girlfriend around 4:30 a.m. the day before and was quickly surrounded by two cars.

About six masked men jumped out of the cars, demanded "gold" and took gold chains from Early before shooting him in the kneecap, authorities said.

His girlfriend and the Uber driver were both uninjured.

Early, who has played in 10 games this year, is doing OK and his injuries weren't life-threatening, Coach Derek Fisher said Wednesday.
