Christmas Trees Get Chipped It's mulchfest time!

Mayor Bloomberg donned his best woodsman outfit for the walk from City Hall to City Hall Park this morning to announce Mulchfest.

As he put it, "Heavy metal lovers have Ozzfest, New York City has Mulchfest!"

Mulchfest runs this weekend in a ton of spots around the five boroughs allowing you to schlep your Christmas tree to a Parks Department chipper and turn the dried up thing into mulch.

You even get a bag of chips as a parting gift.

Call 311 to find the site nearest you or you can leave your tree for curbside pickup by the Sanitation Department until Friday, Jan. 16.

So go get your mulch on ... or something like that.
