Flurries Set to Dust Tri-State Ahead of Frigid Christmas Day

    Forecasters say flurries are expected to dust the tri-state area overnight as a bitter cold front moves in, plunging temperatures into the 20s. 

    Temperatures Tuesday reached the 40s but are expected to plummet overnight. A band of flurries and snow showers quickly crossed north of the city and on Long Island, but there was little significant accumulation.

    Bitter cold moves into the region overnight as temperatures sink to the low 20s in midtown and wind chills Wednesday morning make it feel like 10 degrees in the city and even colder in the suburbs. 

    Christmas Day is forecast to be sunny, breezy and cold with highs around 30 degrees.

    Temperatures rebound into the 40s by Thursday before dropping back to the 30s Friday. They are expected to bump back into the 40s by the weekend. 

    Colder weather is expected to arrive next week.
