Ex-Community Theater Director Accused of Possessing Child Porn

Suffolk County police say they found the material on Vincent Sparagano's computer

The former director of a Long Island community theater has been arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography.

Suffolk County police say they found the material on Vincent Sparagano's computer.

The Lindenhurt resident is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on a charge of possessing a sexual performance by a child.

Sparagano already was on probation for sending suggestive emails to a 14-year-old girl in 2010. He was arrested Wednesday. He declined to comment. It wasn't immediately clear if Sparagano had a lawyer.

Police say they discovered the pornographic material while assisting probation officers in analyzing his cell phone and computer as a condition of his probation.

Sparagano founded The Spotlight Players Theatre in Lindenhurst in 1995.
