Man Robbed, Punched in Manhattan Building: Police

Police are searching for a robber who punched a 65-year-old man in a Chinatown building, causing him to fall down a staircase, and stole his wallet containing $1,600 and credit cards.

The robber had followed the victim to a fourth-floor staircase in a building in the area of Madison and Pike streets at about 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, then demanded money from him, police said.

When the suspect punched the victim, the victim fell down the stairs, suffering a fractured knee and contusion to the right eye.

The suspect then ran away.

The victim was taken to New York Downtown Hospital.

Anyone with information on the suspect pictured is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
