Girl, 7, Injured in Hit-Run in Bronx: NYPD

A 7-year-old girl was critically injured in a hit-and-run in the Bronx, police said Monday.

The girl was trying to cross 214th Street in the Williamsbridge neighborhood Sunday night when she was struck, neighbors said.

A black Jeep Wrangler swerved to avoid a double-parked car and struck the girl, who was standing just off the edge of the sidewalk, police said.

The driver initially stopped, but people started approaching and then she drove off, police said. Police are searching for the woman driving the Jeep.

Both of the girl's legs were broken, along with her hips and pelvis, police say. She was being treated at Jacobi Hospital.
