Girl Hurt After Fall From Third-Floor Window in Bronx, Mother Charged: Cops

A 5-year-old girl was hurt after she fell Thursday afternoon from a third-story window in the Bronx where she was apparently left alone with other children, police said, and her mother has been arrested.

The girl was in stable condition at the hospital after the fall. Officials said she plunged to the ground as she was trying to clean snow off an air-conditioner.

Emergency responders arrived at 224 E. 164th St. in Concourse Village at about 2:20 p.m. to find the child in the courtyard, authorities said.

The child's mother, Caroline Kumah, was arrested and charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child and failing to exercise control of a minor.

Information on a lawyer for Kumah was not immediately available.
