Students Burned in Explosion During Chemistry Experiment at Manhattan School

Two students at a Manhattan high school were taken to the hospital with burns to the face, neck and hand after an explosion during a science experiment in their chemistry class Thursday morning, authorities say. 

Department of Education spokeswoman Margie Feinberg said both injured students are in the 10th grade at Beacon High School on West 61st Street. They were taken to Cornell Medical Center in unknown condition.

The principal is investigating the lab accident.
