No Injuries in Chelsea Apartment Explosion: Officials

Police are investigating after a small gasoline explosion caused minor damage to several apartments at a building in Chelsea early Monday, authorities say.

Fire and police crews were called to the explosion in an apartment in the building on West 25th Street shortly before 2 a.m., officials say. The blast sparked a small fire and caused residual damage in units below.

No one was injured, officials say.

Consolidated Edison determined gasoline, not natural gas, caused the fire.
