Police say an aspiring 26-year-old chef was shot and killed in the Bronx.

They say Hwangbum Yang was walking home from work after midnight on Thursday when he was approached by an armed man.

Responding officers found Yang unconscious on the ground. His cell phone was missing.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Neighbors told the Wall Street Journal that Yang had started a new job three months ago at the Modern, an upscale Manhattan restaurant located inside the Museum of Modern Art.

The investigation is ongoing.
