Charter Bus Overturns in Orange County

The driver was the only person on board, and is listed in serious condition

A charter bus overturned and wound up in a ditch in Orange County Thursday evening, police said.

The Go Bus was on Route 17 in Monroe returning from Monticello when it ran off the road and went into the ditch, just before exit 130, at about 6 p.m., police said.

The driver was the only person on board, and state troopers and some good Samaritans managed to pull him out through a window.

He's listed in serious condition at a local hospital. Police are investigating whether he may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
